The Vision
We envision a community of confident, educated, and supportive caregivers of children on the Autism Spectrum
Our mission is to serve financially-burdened families with autistic children by:
-
Providing access to licensed behavioral experts who provide our parents and caregivers with crisis management skills in real time
-
Organizing and sponsoring recreational activities where autistic children and their caregivers can explore and have fun
-
Sponsoring and matching professionally trained, autism therapy dogs with targeted families in need
Adventures With Autism is a supportive recreational program created to combine, FUN, support, and strength to marginalized, disenfranchised, and financially burdened families who have young children on the Autism Spectrum. We are a team of passionate parents, local educational professionals, and community advocates devoted to helping to make life easier and more enjoyable for our families of focus.
We seek input from with licensed Behavioral Technicians, Behavioral Therapists, and/or ABA Therapists when we are able, and may have them accompany our group on select adventures. Their roll is that through sharing their observations, parents and caregivers may gain informed perspective on how to recognize triggers, manage behavior, and ultimately help their little one recover from a meltdown and rejoin the activity, thusly empowering both child and parent to go out on more adventures of their own independently.
Additionally we are deeply passionate about the positive impact that animals have on the lives of Autistics, and we are committed to supporting our local animal rescue efforts in the state of Georgia.
In joining these two passions, it is our goal to support financially burdened families with a child who has a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder by sponsoring them in the acquisition of a rescue dog who is an optimal match for their family unit, and sponsor the training of these pets to become certified Autism Therapy Support Animals that will meet their specific special needs.
